::Wedding Wednesday::

Getting back on track, I’ve got a Wedding Wednesday update J

Checked items so far this month:             Engagement Photos
                                                                         Book a florist

To Do (hopefully this month) still:                   Book transportation
                                                                                Buy a wedding dress (ha!)
                                                                                Pick out Bridesmaid dresses

Slow but I’ve made some progress!

We went to the very pretty grounds of Glendon Hall @ York University for our engagement photos (And a surprise location TBA later J ) I got all dolled up and got my make up done by the wonderfully talented Jen (She’s an old friend of mine!) It was nice catching up with her AND seeing the amazing job she did =) You can check out her blog with some more of her work here - http://jenmyluz.blogspot.ca/
Can’t wait to see the photos!!

We also booked Pocket of Posies for our floral needs. Sam worked within my budget and is a pleasure to deal with! I’ll have to post some pictures of her wonderful work sometime. In the meantime, feel free to check out her website above!

Cheers!

Time

Time heals all wounds they say. I believe it does.

It’s been a week since we all found out about our beloved friend who passed away. It’s been 9 days since she passed away and 1 day since her funeral. Time. It’ keeps on going and each day it heals a little bit of us.

As much as I would love to share some funny stories about her, I just can’t right now. Doing that would make me break down and cry. I’m at the office typing this out and well, that won’t be a pretty sight. Again.

What I will do however is ask you to consider donating to the Canadian Diabetes Association. If you are looking to add a new charity to your list of donations, I would ask that you consider donating to them. Meghan had diabetes and unfortunately a diabetic coma is what ultimately ended her life. I don’t think many of us take diabetes seriously if we don’t know much about it. But the truth is, it is deadly.  I have now added the Canadian Diabetes Association to my list of donations that I try to give to multiple times a year, in her honor. Even by just donating one time, it could still make a difference. Thank you so much for considering donating to CDA.

At a loss for words...

Sometimes I find myself in a situation that leaves me speechless. I have found myself in that situation for the past week.

I am slowly finding my words again and thought I’d finally post on here.

On Monday August 20th, an amazing and dear friend of mine passed away suddenly. It was a shock to a lot of people. She had touched a lot of lives and had so much going for her. She will deeply be missed by everyone including myself.
I can finally talk/think/write about her without tearing up so that is a step in the right direction. I know this post alone has taken me a couple days to even complete as I’ve broken down several times just thinking at which way I wanted to go with this post which led me to postponing it. I don’t think I can go further into it without breaking down again so I’ll just end it pretty much here.

Rest in Peace Meghan Fox. You will be missed terribly and loved by many people!

Terrific Tuesday

Another doomy and gloomy day but so far it’s a good one so I can’t complain!

Last night I went to an Aloette party at my friend Erin’s house. I was pleasantly surprised to be honest! I never heard of the company but their products seem quite good and reasonably priced (which to me is everything LOL) so I bought a bunch of things and they should be arriving next week! I’m sure I’ll put up some product testimonials and give you the good, bad and ugly about it!  I will also be hosting my own Aloette party in October to get myself on a skin care regime for the wedding – I want to keep my face clear and perfect so might as well start soon!

Tonight, Erin and I are going to the salon to get our hair coloured. If I like them, I’ll likely be making a hair/makeup appointment for this Saturday for Heather’s wedding! This is the first time in a LONG time that I’ve been pampered for a wedding. Yeah, I’m spending some money, but I’ve been generally good with saving so I am treating myself to some pampering! I am also still looking for an outfit. I have a dress but I’m not too impressed with it. I’m not a dress person and I don’t know why I am trying to like it haha I’m much more comfortable in dressy pants and a cute top so I’m trying to get out of the ‘norm’ for me.

Looks like we have settled on a date for our engagement photos! October 13th. We are working on getting a permit for a University that we want to have our pictures taken at. (A friend of mine didn’t have to get a permit and just showed up with her photog, but I know my luck and we will be asked to leave most likely so I’m (begrudgingly) going about it the proper way haha.  I’m excited and nervous at the same time. I need to figure out an outfit (or two) and all that jazz. At least the bonus of having in Oct vs Sept 6th like originally scheduled is that I have more time to choose and outfit and change it a couple times if I am not that happy with it. (Yes, we all know I OVER ANALYSE EVERYTHING!)

Also thought I’d mention a new site that I am keeping tabs on as it may come in handy for the wedding. It’s like Groupon but for wedding deals! I’ve already purchased a gallery canvas for when we get our engagement shots for a great price. So me being the frugalista that I am, I can’t pass up a good deal! The site it called Weddeals.ca  Let me know what you think about it. What are you on the lookout for?  I'll also let you know of any additional purchases I make :)

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Cheers!

Gloomy!

Is what the weather is right now. It's all rainy, dark and gloomy outside.

The weather has been quite good for quite some time so I can’t really complain if we get rain once and an while. It’ll be good for the grass (weeds at our house!)

I don’t know if it’s today’s weather making me feel this way or just because I’ve been go-go-go non stop that I feel a little burnt out.  I have been feeling unmotivated to do things and I have been too busy to work on a bunch of things that NEED to get done (Kris, I know I still need to get you a quote!!! I haven’t forgotten!) It’s been a super busy year thus far and I don’t really see it slowing down much, if at all.  So when I get a free hour (or day) to myself, I’ve spent it doing absolutely nothing at all and now I’m feeling guilty about it which in turn sucks!  I need to get on top of everything and book in some free time so I don’t feel guilty doing nothing but read a book, play games or just do anything I like doing but never have the time!

I'm Back!!! For Reals this time!

Oh hai!
Long time no see!
Well, it’s because my year has been FLYING right by. It feels like Christmas was only a couple months ago and now we’re already 8 months into the year! Yikes! Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
Also another nerve wrecking thing: Just over 10 months until the wedding!!! What happened to our LONG engagement. I can’t believe we’ve been engaged for over a year now. I am in panic mode now, even though I have a bunch of the big things out of the way – Venue, Church, DJ, Photographer (finally!!). I’ve been dress shopping and have 3 I really like but I still feel that I have to visit a couple more stores haha.
Other news – not too much. Same ol same ol busyness. Always something going on and things to do with never enough time! Oh and I’ve been spending way too much time on Pinterest. I frickin LOVE that website. It’s good for inspiration but bad for the wallet! I’ve wanted to clean, organize and remodel the house several times over. I am also pinning things for our future house – which is also bad LOL

Well I’m back now since I have access to the blog again (forgot email addy used AND password HA!) so I shall be posting more regularly about everything and anything!

Stay tuned for an upcoming easy and cute craft project J

Cheers!

{Wedding} Planning Binder

Here is my finished wedding binder cover =)
I wasn't too fond of the paper at first but now I think it's not all that bad overall. I think it's missing something but I can't figure it out just yet.
On the spine of the binder it will have black matching striped patterned paper and the date in numbers cut out in silver card stock.I'll post a pic when that's put together.

Many of thanks to Kerry {Momma K Crafts} as I borrowed both cartridges from her to make this =)

Supples:
Cricut - Sweethearts cricut cartridge, Sophisticated cricut cartridge
Paper - Stampin' Up, Pattern Paper - something Pickle (Will update this when I find out)

Crafting!

So I went to Michaels today.
Since I put myself on a budget I have made sure to steer clear of Michaels, WM craft section and Dollarama. I must say, I have done EXTEMELY well and have stayed away from all 3 for the most part.
Today however, I went into M's. I was in heaven! Soooooo many new things and so much to love! I went in with a $20 budget but ended up spending $60 (Thank goodness for coupons otherwise it would've been $75+!!) BUT I bought some stuff that I will use RIGHT now! I am making a couple new things for my 'shoppe' and needed supplies to whip them up. I'm excited to see how it all comes out =)

In other news, I am thinking of throwing myself a fabulous birthday party this year. I'm turning 25 and thought why not throw a bash for myself? The ideas are swirling - Chocolate brown and pink (or turq) colour theme, an AMAZING candy buffet table (since I can't have one at the wedding now - thanks asshat venue that I love and hate - more on that later!)  and pretty details galore! Can I do this within 4 weeks notice? We shall see!

Anyhoo, I'm off for now.

Until next time, taa taa

Friiiiiidayyyyyyyyy

It’s Friday!!!!

Pretty happy at that! Probably that it has something to do with me FINALLY getting to be able to work on designing the cover for my wedding binder! (I’m also going to try cutting out the vinyl for my wedding box – but nothing fancy there!) My good friend E might be coming over tomorrow to work on B’s Bday banner but if not, I’m still going to work on my ish because I’ve been itching to create some awesome crafty stuff lately! My new goal is to buy NOTHING unless I REALLY need it. Like REALLY need it. Lol I have loads of stuff that could/should be used before adding more to the collection that collects dust at the moment. (That being said, I already want to go to Michaels to check out some wedding paper haha)

I’ve also decided this blog needs pictures (and more posts haha) I’m hoping to get some crafty stuff done this weekend so I’ll definitely be posting about that. Maybe some before and after pictures of my disaster of a basement that looks like a bomb went off in it!

I also can’t wait until NEXT Saturday because K will be coming back with some paper goodies for me! He is bringing back my sample paper and pocket folds from C&P so I can’t wait until that haha. I love getting new paper samples =) Then I can finally coordinate things with my friend Jackie with her wedding invites that I might be creating for her. (Don’t ask – I still don’t know what on earth I am doing about my invites – I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon – one would hope!)

Until next time, taa taa

Party Time

A great friend of mine has a daughter who will be turning one this summer. She wants to make a banner for her birthday party and asked if I can help make it (well, she asked if I could cut it all out on my cricut and I told her how about she comes over and does it herself. She liked the idea of that!) Then it got me thinking and researching cute banners for ideas and inspiration. Whoa was I blown away with the amazing creativity from people online who pull all the stops for their childs 1st birthday! Seeing all that made me send a bbm to N to ask if I can plan my nephew J’s 6th birthday next year! (She knows I msg her with random stuff all the time so she shouldn’t be all that surprised!)
I’m visioning boy banners, cars, red and blue colours, candy bar that makes the kids squeal with joy, balloons and loads of DIY! I hope she agrees to it! HA! If she ever provides me with a niece then I am DEFINITELY planning her 1st (and/or 2nd birthday parties! The ideas I have swirling around in my head for girls is CRAZY awesome!!)
Project clean up basement will be underway soon. It really needs a good clean (not dirty – just things are way out of place!) so it’ll be nice to have that organization again and to have things in their right spots again! I really need to organize all my hobbies (baking/paper crafts/chocolates/etc) larger kitchen appliances (deep fryer, George Foreman etc) all my favourite appetizer stuff (omg I have an addiction!) in addition to the holiday décor we have stored away (Halloween & xmas). Ideally, one day I’d like to go through my old clothes as well (and shoes and purses) and just chuck them all (well Good will it but you know what I mean!) It’s been sitting in the basement since we moved in 3+ years ago and my weight changes  often so the likelihood of me being able to fit into those clothes AND want to wear them again are slim to none. Goodbye!  And it’ll make it that much easier when we do go to finish the basement then it’ll just have that much less stuff in it! (I am excited for when the basement is being worked on because I will be transforming my craft room at the same time!!! Eeeek the guest bedroom will be mine and I have awesome visons for that! Min 2 years away from that dream!)
Anyhoo, enough of that for now.
Until next time, taa taa

Do It Yourself!

I <3 DIY
I love crafts. I love card making and scrapbooking. I love working with my hands.
I haven’t created anything new lately as I ‘just wasn’t feeling it’ lately (You know how sometimes you get into a funk and don’t want to look at the things you loved? Yeah, that was me and paper) After looking at wedding stuff and DIY stuff online – and spending 3+ hours on Pinterest last night - I feel that motivation again to do what I loved and play with paper! First things first I am designing my wedding binder cover to make it pretty lol If I am looking at that thing for the next 15 months (!!!) then I want to make it a little prettier on the eyes (And really an excuse to finally use my wedding Cricut cartridges HA!) Tonight I’m stopping by a friend’s house to borrow the Sweethearts cartridge and Wedding solutions as I can’t justify spending that money at the moment since I can’t find them under $20 anywhere (I also REALLY want Diving wedding cart that is exclusive to Creative Memories but for $75 with tax/shipping I am finding it SUPER hard to again justify it as much as I am really wanting it!!)
Still looking at photographers and probably will be for a while. I will be emailing some to request quotes soon that is a good first step.
I also signed up today for a new TV wedding show. I’m nervous as heck but we’ll see where it goes haha. It’s to find my dream wedding dress and we all know how I’ll need help with that!
Until next time, taa taa

Photographers Wanted

That's my focus lately. Finding a kick @ss photographer that doesn't cost a down payment on a car. Mission Impossible? I don't think so (yet!)

There are a couple I really like actually. But me being me, I NEED to see what else is out there of course. I am finding that I am being a little more critical now because it's for MY wedding. (You should hear me when I'm looking at wedding cakes - Yikes!)
I think I have a fairly reasonable 'wish list' in who I want:

1) 2 Photographers is a must.  I don't want any missed photo opps lol
2) Candid and fun shots please. I'm not a huge fan of tons of posed photos
3) Awesome to work with and gets my craziness
4) Takes my 'must have shots' list and WOWs me!
5) Thinks on their feetl and isn't afraid to try something new

So this should be an interesting adventure. Wish me luck =) (And if you know of someone, don't hesitate to drop me a line with names/websites!)

This week was quite busy in general. Birthdays galore this week (My nephew J's, Kev's brother, an amazing friend Jackie, one of cousins, my fun co-worker etc. ) and other various things. I had a post all ready to go on Tuesday but never got around to actually getting it published due to it being on another computer and not getting it to my desktop. I know I've slacked lately - sorry!  Next week should be a little calmer so that should be nice.

Those who know me, know I love to read so I thought I would share what I'm reading every so often and my opinions on it. Currently I am reading "The Scorch Trials" by James Dashner. It's the 2nd book in his trilogy (First being "The Maze Runner" and I LOVED it) and so far so good.  I try to read it whenever I get a chance. I also am really looking forward to The Hunger Games movie that comes out in 2 weeks!! It's only been 2 months since I read (And LOVED!) the trilogy and I'm already missing it. Anyhoo, I'm not too sure what I'll be reading after the 3rd book in the trilogy but I'm sure I'll figure it out soon. I have a ton of books on the ereader and a HUGE wish list lol.  I'm also 8/25 books for my 2012 goal to read more! I'm sure I'll easily surpass that number come summer time (Who doesn't love to read in the sun, with a drink in hand?!)

Well until next time =) Taa Taa

We're getting Murried!

So I guess things are official now!
After being engaged for just over 8 months, we have finally booked our venue! It was exciting to finally do that (Although I'm sure the cheque book cried a bit) but now it's time to get my butt in hear and work on wedding planning. Yesterday we went out and purchased my wedding band (We put a deposit down on it in December to keep the price locked in AND to ensure that it was still available - which we didn't see the designer rings there yesterday so I think it was a wise idea!)
Church was supposed to be booked as well but due to an unfortunate circumstances our Reverend isn't available at the moment.

Not too much else is going on as of late. My nephew J's bday is on Tuesday so we'll be driving down to go out to dinner with them on his birthday. Still need to get him something else to go with the awesome super soaker we picked up for him.

Until next time =)

Always a good weekend with friends!

Oh heys, I haz blog.

No no, I haven’t forgotten about it already (Ok, I lied, I did a little bit until Colleen asked me if I blogged on Saturday and I shamelessly said nope haha)

Saturday the four of us went out to this Mexican restaurant (Mi Casa es tu Casa or El Rinconsito Mexicano) not too far from our house. It was interesting… We were asked for our drink order immediately being shown to our table – which is a good and bad thing in my opinion. Good – On the ball service and you assume you get your drink sooner. Bad – If you don’t know the restaurant at all and wanted to order something snazzy than a failsafe coke. Yup, I got coke. They don’t have anything on tap beer wise and I was handed a can of coke without a glass (and a straw without a wrapper – yes I am a germaphobic priss!)  We order our food – 3 of us order the house specialty and C got the Chimichanga I think. Took over 40 mins for our food to come out (and the place wasn’t super busy). Food was ok (Had to send my initial plate back due to the tomato allergy that I stressed and was stressed back to me it wouldn’t be an issue – surprise! But I found the food to be ok. A little on the bland side (Coming from me that is HUGE since I barely use spices HA!) and the portion sizes are smaller than what we are used to and compared to the cost. With a couple other hiccups (long wait for bills, cash/debit only, nothing matched in the restaurant –looked like tables/chairs were from garage sales – Menus we’re also didn’t match each other and we’re cheap looking etc) needless to say, we most likely will never go back again. Oh wells. It was nice to try something new (and in the city to boot!) so I can’t say it was an experience I regret.

My co-worker just suggested a really good restaurant even closer to where we live that she LOVED on the weekend. Guess I’m going to suggest that place for the next time we want to try somewhere new J (Of course, I’ll report back!)

In other news, K joined twitter on the weekend. I’m amused. Secretly I think he is just trying to be cool like a couple of us who are on it and he was missing out on our tweet fun.

Wedding progress – I’m super happy to say we’ll be booking the venue later this week. It’s super exciting and nerve wracking at the same time. Hoping to book the church at the same time but may not be able to due to an unfortunate issue with the Reverend.  Stay tuned.

Happy Monday!

Until next time,

Dee

Obligitory first post!

Welcome!

Somehow you have found your way to my blog. I have either given you the link or you’ve stumbled across me randomly. Either way, cool.

I’ve decided to hop on the blog-wagon again partly due to boredom and partly because friends we’re doing it (I know peer pressure sucks! HA!) As per the title, this blog will contain my ramblings about the following (but not limited to) subjects:
1)      My upcoming adventure down the aisle with my fiancé K. (15 months to go – yikes!)
2)      Friends and family – what they do and why they make me happy and drive me nuts at the same time
3)      Saving myself and others money
4)      Everyday shiznit (Yeah, I said shiznit)
5)      The craziness I somehow land myself in. (I swear, crazy finds me!)

That’s pretty much it in a nutshell. Like or not, I’m here for a while. Bookmark it if you’d like to see what I’m up to and don’t hesitate to drop me a line sometime (I’d really hate to think I’m talking to myself).

Taa Taa!
